Jobless Claims Fell 1,000 to 367k, Trade Deficit Widened to $-51.8B - 10.5.2012


The unemployment claims in US decreased by 1,000 to 367,000 for the week ended at 4th of May as Labor Department reported today. Claims for two weeks ago were revised higher to 368,000 from 365,000. Looking over the trend of the Jobless Claims, they were rising until the end of the April and then dropped in the beginnings of May. The FED reported on the 25th of April that labor market conditions improved in recent months and even though unemployment rate fell, it remains elevated. Trade deficit widened in March to $51.8 billion as the Department of Commerce reported on Thursday, the deficit widened more than the consensus of $50 billion that economists forecasted. The increase in trade deficit in many factors but the two major are the increase in trade deficit between the US and China trade, and due to increased energy prices.
